As Glasgow’s largest pantomime venue, the 3,000-seat auditorium enables producers to stage spectacular productions with elaborate sets and large-scale casts.

The SEC Armadillo also hosted our hugely successful family-focused pantomime, which boasted stunning costumes, lighting, sound, and 3D special effects, ensuring a thrilling visual immersion for audiences. The SEC Armadillo has staged successful runs of Mamma Mia, Hairspray, Swan Lake, and the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of War Horse. 

Elsewhere on campus, innovative productions like National Theatre of Scotland’s Black Watch, The Steamie, and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds are prime examples of utilising flexible space to present unique events. In 2018, we hosted successful runs of the acclaimed Kenny Wax productions SIX The Musical and Mr Poppers Penguins in the Lomond auditorium as part of our Christmas event offering. 

The OVO Hydro is the perfect venue for staging arena style productions, while maintaining an intimate theatre atmosphere.

In previous years we have staged Jesus Christ Superstar, Mrs Brown's Boys and Glasgow’s much-loved Still Game Live. In 2024, we hosted Cameron Mackintosh’s production of the beloved musical phenomenon, Les Misérables the Arena Spectacular, selling out the 14,300 capacity arena on all six performances.
